Who Are the Deities of Wicca?
Wicca, being a 20th century religion, is fairly unique in one way, they don’t actually have its own deities. The religion wasn’t built around the veneration of any specific deities of its own. In Wicca, the worship Pagan gods and goddesses are of other ancient cultures in a new and modern world.
In Wicca the horned God is a type of Godhead, not one specific God. Triple Goddess is a type of Goddess head, not one specific Goddess, or a specific trio of Goddesses. These terms are merely descriptions, not deities in themselves. Many Wicca's believe in magic, a manipulative force exercised through the practice of witchcraft or sorcery. Many Wicca's agree with the definition of magic offered by ceremonial magicians, such as Aleister Crowley, who declared that magic was "the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will", while another prominent ceremonial magician, MacGregor Mathers stated that it was "the science of the control of the secret forces of nature".
The Wicca Horned God
While the Triple Goddess is the primary representation of the feminine Divine, the Horned God is her male counterpart. The deities worshiped within a particular religion are referred to as a “pantheon”, and within Wicca, borrowing from other pantheons is rarely frowned upon. The image of the horned god above is identical to the Baphomet below. The word "Pantheon" refers to a temple in Rome dedicated to all the Gods of the Roman people. In modern usage the word Pantheon is used to describe the family of gods itself. For example the Greek Pantheon consists of the twelve Olympian Gods and various Titans and Chthonic deities associated with ancient Greek religion.
In Wicca one ultimately chooses what deities to work with. It is a personal choice that every witch/wizard must make at some point. Some people choose to worship the Wicca Triple goddess and horned god exclusively, while others work with one or more different pantheons in varying degrees. Just remember white magic and black magic channels the same spirits and just like Dagon the spirit channel are luceferian.
